South Australia records three new cases of coronavirus in hotel quarantine

The two women and a man each tested positive after arriving in Adelaide for mandatory hotel quarantine.

Three people who recently arrived in South Australia from overseas have been diagnosed with the coronavirus while in hotel quarantine.

SA Health said there was no public health risk as they had been staying in hotel quarantine since they arrived in Adelaide.

The man and a woman, aged in their 30s, and another woman aged in her 50s recorded the positive test results.

According to SA Health, one of the cases is an old infection and no-longer "active".

The three infections bring the total number of cases diagnosed in South Australia since the pandemic reached the state to 482.

There are now six known active cases of the virus that causes COVID-19 in South Australia.

All of those with known active infections in Adelaide are in hotel quarantine.

SA Health said more than 513,500 tests have now been performed in the state.

The department urged anyone who has recently arrived in South Australia from New South Wales, and who has visited one of the areas identified by NSW Health COVID-19 as case locations, along with anyone with even the most mild symptoms, to get a test.

News of South Australia's new cases came after Victoria recorded just one case of the coronavirus and no deaths from the disease during the preceding 24 hours.

Victorian Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton said today that it was a "remarkable achievement" that the state has recorded just one new coronavirus infection and no deaths.

Metropolitan Melbourne's 14-day rolling case average is now 8.1, down from 8.7 yesterday.
