South Aust drops last COVID-19 border ban

From Friday, arrivals into South Australia won't need to quarantine or get tested for coronavirus. (AAP)

South Australia has lifted the last of its national COVID-19 travel restrictions, clearing the way for people from Greater Melbourne to enter the state.

From Friday those arrivals won't need to quarantine or get tested for coronavirus.

At the same time, SA has also eased some local measures, with dancing allowed across a range of venues.

Those with up to 200 patrons will only need to ensure people are complying with the one person to every two square metre rule and must also have QR check-in codes in place.

Venues between 200 and 1000 will have dance numbers limited to 50 people at a time.

Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said the easing of border rules with Victoria would help free up police resources at roadside checkpoints.

"But it's important to stress we are not COVID-free in Australia," he said.

"We still have people (with the virus) in our quarantine hotels. So we have to have a base level of restrictions."

SA reported no new cases on Thursday.

It has also revealed almost 700 vaccines have been administered since the start of the program on Monday.

That figure doesn't include those people in nursing homes who are being provided with the vaccination by the federal government.
