South American wonderkid Luis Diaz claims he has Cardiff City pre-contract agreement

Colombian wonderkid Luis Diaz claims a pre-contract is in place for him to sign for Cardiff City.

Rumours circulated at the beginning of the month, linking the 22-year-old with a £7million switch to South Wales from his club Junior Barranquilla.

His agent had confirmed there was Premier League interest in him, but the player himself has now cranked up the speculation in a radio interview in his homeland.

Diaz claims there is an agreement in place, but it has yet to be signed.

“Yes, there is already a pre-agreement, but I still have not said anything to them, nothing to the leaders that I agree with and that I’m going to go,” Diaz told Caracol Radio (via  AS ).

“Let’s say there is an agreement between clubs, but I’m still holding back. I told them that I am determined to go, but I am calm and I want to do things well. If the possibility is given, it would be good.”

Shocked Cardiff City hit out at pilot and flight organisers after Emiliano Sala revelation

Asked about the progress of a deal, Diaz revealed things aren't yet in place for it to be announced.

“No, I have not yet submitted any medical exams," he added.

"Junior had a talk, which is a preliminary agreement and nothing has been confirmed, the proposal was put in place and I have not yet traveled there.”

His agent revealed earlier this month that Cardiff had watched his client against Brazilian side Palmeiras in the Copa Libertatores.

He said: "There is an interest, like that of other clubs that came to watch the game yesterday."

It is a confusing situation, as WalesOnline has been told by sources at the club that Cardiff are not interested in the international winger, who scored his first goal for his country last week.

The Welsh club are more likely to target central midfield and striking positions in the summer — with much of their business depending on whether they avoid Premier League relegation. They may resurrect a move for OGC Nice midfielder Adrien Tameze,  who was a top target in January.
