South American sizzle brings five-star flavours to Kirkgate Market

If you're fed up with a bland sandwich and a packet of crisps for lunch, then there's a brand new street food stall that's just opened in the city centre that you simply have to visit.

Kanassa is run by two sisters from Leeds, Anna and Beth Shindler, who are bringing the exotic flavours of South America directly to Leeds.

The simple menu at the Kirkgate Market stall consists of just six main items - but look no further than the Big Colombian Brunch, which of course is served up all day.

It's a good job too, with crowds queuing up late into Friday afternoon when I visited.

All of the meals are completely vegetarian, but the array of flavours on one plate is mindboggling.

From the deliciously sweet pineapple slaw, to the comforting manchego stuffed arepas and the perfect fried egg with runny yolk, the hearty but healthy meal was a winner in all aspects.

At £6.30, it won't be something that you'll opt for every single day, but make sure you treat yourself to lunch at Kanassa in the near future.
