South American expert Tim Vickery delivers verdict on Giovani Lo Celso to Spurs transfer

South American football expert Tim Vickery has given his take on the reports linking Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 23-year-old Argentine has been linked with making the switch to north London once his involvement with Argentina at the Copa America is done next month.

Lo Celso scored the second goal as Argentina saw off Venezuela 2-0 to reach the semi-finals.

Vickery was asked what he made of the young Argentine midfielder and the links to Spurs.

"He's a very, very talented left-footed playmaker, you can certainly see the reason behind the Tottenham connection, with Christian Eriksen perhaps looking to move on," he told Sky Sports News.

"Lo Celso would bring some of the things that Christian Eriksen brings, with perhaps a little bit more dynamism, maybe not as deadly as the Dane from set-pieces, but more dynamism over the field .He had a terrific season for Real Betis."

He added: "There's a nice link as well with Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino, because they come from the same region.

"They'll have to pay for him, Betis paid out to acquire him in order to make a big profit on him, so there'll be some long, hot summer negotiations going on with that one, but he would be a good fit for Tottenham."
