South Africa's Shaft Sinkers sunk by potash problems

South Africa's Shaft Sinkers has sunk 16% after problems with a potash project.

The company, which builds infrastructure for underground mines, said difficult ground conditions at Eurochem's Volgakaly potash mine meant progress was much slower than anticipated. So it has begun discussions with Eurochem about amending or terminating the contract. Sinking works have now been suspended. Its shares are down 13.5p at 69.5p.

The company - whose name was subject to a spate of jokes which look less funny for investors now - floated in London around a year ago at a placing price of 124p a share.
