AB de Villiers has announced his retirement from cricket.
De Villiers retired from international cricket in 2018 but had continued to play in the Indian Premier League for Royal Challengers Bangalore up until this year.
The 37-year-old, who captained South Africa at T20, ODI and Test level, is regarded as one of the greatest batters of all time, and holds the record for the fastest 50, 100 and 150 in ODI cricket.
The South Africa legend said in a statement: "It has been an incredible journey, but I have decided to retire from all cricket. Ever since the back yard matches with my older brothers, I have played the game with pure enjoyment and unbridled enthusiasm. Now, at the age of 37, that flame no longer burns so brightly.
"That’s the reality I must accept - and, even if it may seem sudden, that is why I am making this announcement today. I’ve had my time. Cricket has been exceptionally kind to me.

De Villiers played in 114 Tests, 228 ODIs and 78 T20Is for his country.
