Tony Romo's football career appears to be over, but he'll be a professional athlete for at least one more game.
Sources have confirmed an ESPN report that Romo will be a Dallas Maverick for a day.
Romo will be in full uniform for the Mavericks' final home game of the season Tuesday night against the Denver Nuggets. The former Cowboys franchise quarterback has frequently attended Mavericks games throughout his NFL career.
Owner Mark Cuban hinted before Friday's game that the Mavericks may sign a veteran "pass-first point guard" before the season expires Wednesday. Cuban and president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson were mum on who the new player might be.
Romo, who was a standout high school basketball player in Wisconsin, is not expected to play. The spot on the bench will only serve as a ceremonial tribute to the former quarterback.
