FRISCO, Texas _ The Cowboys will workout kickers Kai Forbath and Tristan Vizcaino this upcoming week, according to multiple sources.
Vizcaino worked out for the Cowboys last week along with Nick Rose and Austin MacGinnis.
Forbath was recently released by the Patriots because the team wanted to bring back Nick Folk after he recovered from surgery for an appendectomy. Folk kicked in Sunday's game for the Patriots.
The Cowboys have been searching for upgrades at kicker due to Brett Maher's recent struggles.
Maher has hit just 66.7% of his field goal attempts this season and is one for five on field goal tries between 40 and 49 yards.
Maher made one of two field goal attempts in the loss to the Bears and has an NFL-leading 10 missed field goals.
The Cowboys are familiar with Forbath. He was in their training camp in 2011 recovering from a quad injury. But the Cowboys eventually released him in 2012 and signed Dan Bailey, who would go on to become one of the more successful kickers in franchise history.
Forbath, meanwhile, has kicked for five different teams compiling a 85.8% field goal percentage.
In his one game with the Patriots in Week 13, Forbath made his only field goal, a 23-yarder, but he went one for two on extra points.
Vizcaino had been on the offseason rosters of the Jets and Bengals but didn't make their active rosters.
