Khalil Mack had his best game of the season last week against the Buccaneers and would’ve had three sacks if not for one of them being negated by a roughing-the-passer call against him for apparently driving Tom Brady into the ground.
After reviewing the play, the NFL decided Mack’s hit did not merit a fine, a source said. That is often an indication that the league determined he should not have been flagged in the first place.
Even with the lost sack on that play in the third quarter, Mack had two sacks, another quarterback hit and a pass breakup.
The NFL did, however, fine Bears cornerback Kyle Fuller $10,000 for a facemask on Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans in the second quarter.
For the Bucs, the league didn’t fine center Ryan Jensen for head-butting Bears safety Eddie Jackson during a confrontation after a play in the third quarter, nor did it fine pass rusher Shaquil Barrett for his roughing-the-passer penalty against Nick Foles with 3:53 left in the game.
