Source: Knicks center Mitchell Robinson's sore knee is not serious

Knicks center Mitchell Robinson suffered a minor sore knee and sat out Thursday's Team USA practice for precautionary reasons, a source confirmed to the Daily News.

The rising prospect, an All-Rookie Second Team selection last season, arrived to camp in Las Vegas on Sunday with the pain. He underwent an MRI on Monday. It was clear of serious damage, a source told the News, and Robinson participated in multiple practices this week.

On Wednesday, however, Robinson tweaked his knee while guarding Kyle Kuzma in a 5-on-5 scrimmage. Team USA is historically cautious regarding injuries. In addition to Robinson, Trae Young (eye infection), Kyle Lowry (thumb) and Marcus Smart (calf tightness) have missed time at training camp.

Robinson was invited to the Team USA Select camp after averaging 7.3 points and 2.4 blocks in 20.6 minutes with the Knicks, surging in the second half of his rookie campaign.
