DALLAS _ A day after announcing the departure of Jason Garrett as head coach, the Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms with a new one.
Mike McCarthy has agreed to terms to become the next head coach of the Cowboys, a source confirmed Monday morning.
McCarthy, 56, told NFL Network he signed a deal with the Cowboys.
Cowboys officials interviewed just two candidates for the head coaching job, Marvin Lewis on Friday and McCarthy on Saturday.
The interview went so well, McCarthy remained in Dallas on Sunday. ESPN reported that McCarthy spent the night at Jerry Jones' house Saturday night.
McCarthy spent 13 years as the head coach of the Green Bay Packers, compiling a 125-77-2 mark. He won Super Bowl XLV at AT&T Stadium with the Packers in 2011 and defeated the Cowboys in the 2017 NFC divisional round of the playoffs, also at AT&T Stadium.
