The Bears will likely put defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris on injured reserve for the rest of the season.

Robertson-Harris will have shoulder surgery this week, a source said. He missed the Bears’ game Sunday at the Titans.

While he is not one of the more prominent names and doesn’t have gaudy stats, he has been an essential part of the Bears’ front. He typically played about half the defensive snaps before his injury. He had 10 tackles and five quarterback hits.

The injury could also signal the end of his time with the team, though the Bears valued him enough as a restricted free agent in the recent offseason to put a second-round tender on him. Robertson-Harris, 27, is playing for $3.3 million this season and will hit unrestricted free agency in March.

Robertson-Harris made the roster as an undrafted free agent out of UTEP in 2016 and started 52 of a possible 57 games for them from 2017 through now.
