The Bears agreed to sign defensive tackle Angelo Blackson to a two-year deal, a source confirmed to the Sun-Times late Wednesday night.

Blackson started nine games for the Cardinals last season, one year after starting 15 for the Texans. He recorded 2 12 of his six career sacks last season, finishing with eight quarterback hits and 24 tackles.

A fourth-round pick of the Titans in 2015, the Auburn alum spent two years in Tennessee, three in Houston and one in Arizona.

Standout lineman Akiem Hicks was on the roster Wednesday at 3 p.m. when the Bears needed to start the league year under the salary cap. The Bears need to continue to massage the salary cap, though; it’s unclear if Blackson’s addition will have any affect on Hicks’ status.

Two Bears nose tackles — John Jenkins and Daniel McCullers — became free agents Wednesday, as did linemen Brent Urban and Roy Robertson-Harris. Two days ago, Robertson-Harris agreed to sign a three-year deal to join the Jaguars, sources confirmed. The Bears expect nose tackle Eddie Goldman to return after opting out last year in the wake of the coronavirus.
