The Srikaranonda–Balakauskas family will give an evening concert, "Music From Our Living Room", at 140 Wireless, Witthayu Road, on Aug 15 at 4pm.
Presented by the Royal Bangkok Symphony Music School as part of its Sounds Of Wireless series, the concert brings together a family whose musical roots span Thailand and Lithuania and whose contribution to classical music extends across three generations.
Pianist Indhuon Srikaranonda is the daughter of the late Manrat Srikaranonda, one of Thailand's most celebrated musicians and composers. Her husband, concert pianist Artas Balakauskas, is the son of Osvaldas Balakauskas, one of Lithuania's leading composers and music educators.
Together, Indhuon and Artas have built distinguished careers as concert pianists and teachers, inspiring generations of young musicians in Thailand. Their elder daughter, Asta, is a theatre artist and classical vocalist, while their younger daughter, Indre, is a cellist.
This is a rare chance to see one of the country's best-known musical families perform together before Asta leaves for a master's degree at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London and Indre departs for California to study at the prestigious Idyllwild Arts Academy.
The programme features Schubert's Two Characteristic Marches For Piano Four Hands; Brahms' Cello Sonata No.1 In E Minor; Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel's Three Pieces For Piano Four Hands; George Gershwin's beloved songs Summertime, The Man I Love and Fascinating Rhythm; and concludes with Piazzolla's Libertango.
