Feb. 02--The Cleveland Browns can't be any more clear about quarterback Johnny Manziel's future with the team -- at least not until Monday.
That's the first day NFL teams are allowed to cut players. Until then, though, we have this statement, issued Tuesday by Browns Executive Vice President Sashi Brown:
"We've been clear about expectations for our players on and off the field. Johnny's continual involvement in incidents that run counter to those expectations undermines the hard work of his teammates and the reputation of our organization. His status with our team will be addressed when permitted by league rules. We will have no further comment at this time."
As soon as Hue Jackson was hired last month, there were reports that one of the new coach's first moves would be to cut ties with the quarterback, whose two years with the Browns have been filled with high-profile incidents off the field and very few highlights on it.
Most recently, Fort Worth police were dispatched to look into a dispute between Manziel and an ex-girlfriend last weekend. A preliminary investigation determined "a possible assault" may have occurred.

Manziel is 2-6 as a starting quarterback, completing 57% of his passes with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions for a 74.4 quarterback rating.
