Sound From The Other City announces 2023 venues to 'unite as much creative energy as we can'

Organisers of Salford’s biggest grassroots music festival have confirmed the venues which will be hosting some of the city’s newest musical talent.

Sounds From The Other City festival will be held across a variety of venues in and around Chapel Street. It takes place on Sunday, April 30 this year.

Music starts at 3pm, but will continue into the night as a swathe of pubs, clubs, churches, studios, warehouses, and 'in-between spaces’ have been added to the bill. Tickets start from £32.

Organisers say the event is ‘about championing the independent and progressive music scene in Greater Manchester’. This is the 17th festival in the city.

“SFTOC is about championing the independent and progressive music scene in Greater Manchester and welcoming some of the most exciting new names in music to our home in Salford,” Mark Carlin, festival director, said. “And whilst some of those names will undoubtedly go on to great success, we’re not interested in a beauty contest with winners and losers; we're about uniting as much creative energy as we can in one place, on one day, and setting it off in one giant party on Bank Holiday Sunday."

Venues confirmed thus far include Islington Mill, The White Hotel, Fivefourstudios, The Old Pint Pot, and Bexley Square. More as set to be announced, organisers say.

Acts playing this year are varied, but some of the ‘standouts’ are 96 Back, The Beatriarchy, Chandé, Gracie T, MC Skittles, Jenna G, Katbrownsugar, Monoko, Deptford Northern Soul Club, and Kiss Me Again.
