Sotheby’s is selling street art to raise awareness of male mental health for Movember

Sotheby’s has teamed up with leading street artists and men’s health charity Movember to create new artworks exploring male mental health.

Ten artists have created works that address issues surrounding men’s mental health and suicide prevention for the Against The Wall project, which will go on display at Sotheby’s on November 16.

The works will then be sold as part of the Contemporary Curated sale on November 20, with all proceeds going towards the Movember Foundation.

The collection has been led by artist and gallery owner Dean Stockton, also known as D*Face, who has contributed a work which features two comic book style male characters. One of the characters comforts the other, who has a face like a skull.

“Street Art has always been about breaking barriers, both physical and social,” Stockton said. “I strongly believe Street Art has the ability to breach the social stigma of men’s mental health – to collapse this invisible boundary that’s causing men to keep their struggles to themselves.”

Other artists in the sale include OBEY Clothing founder and street artist Shepard Fairey, London-based text artists Ben Eine and painter Jonathan Yeo.
