Sorry to Beige, Cream, and White – Reese Witherspoon's Playful Accent Chair Color Is Surprisingly Chicer Than All of You (Combined)

Reese Witherspoon.

If the recent past was defined by the girlhood aesthetic, then the current era marks the arrival of the lady. While the previous 'Barbiecore' craze introduced bold ways to incorporate hot pink into our homes and wardrobes, we are now seeing a shift toward a softer, more mature take on this classic palette – perfect for bringing a sense of renewal to our spaces as the first blossoms of spring appear.

An excellent example of this transition is found in Reese Witherspoon's home. The Hello Sunshine Collective founder's living room is anchored by a light-pink velvet accent chair (similar to this armchair from Wayfair), where she enjoys reading.

Not only does the chair perfectly complement the actress's living room color scheme, but it taps into a major trend for the season: soft pinks. These versatile, feminine shades are popping up across the design space, creating renewed conversations around the timeless hue.

'Though pink is an interior design trend right now, the color is much more than a passing fad, appearing in some of the world's most beautiful homes across time,' says Jennifer Ebert, digital editor at Homes & Gardens. 'The shades we're seeing right now are much softer and lighter than last year's deep pinks. Pastels are in.'

Ebert continues, 'In Reese's space, the contrast between the pink chair and blue walls adds a unique and eye-catching energy to her colorful living room. Furthermore, velvet is always a great choice of material for seating options. The fabric reflects the light, filling the room with brightness. It also creates an intriguing contrast with the matte finish of the walls and the rough, natural texture of the rug. The difference in textures has as much of a draw as the different colors in the space.'

Pink is the new pink. As this shade grows ever more popular – mirroring the soft petals of a garden in bloom – we can't wait to see it appear across more beautiful celebrity homes. Reese Witherspoon has already led the change.
