‘Sorry the Constitution hurt your feelings’: Gavin Newsom takes a jab at Stephen Miller’s whining over Oregon troop ban

If you are a kid, then a little whining can go a long way. The same, however, cannot be said about adults or more specifically politicians, at least not for now.

One can try, but the chances of success are slim.
With all that has been going on in the United States on the advice of President Donald Trump for the past couple of months, it is clear that he and his Republican allies hate the migrant population. On more than one occasion, they have also shown their contempt for other minority communities; however, that’s for another day.

For the case in question, i.e., the immigrant wiping scam, if one can refer to it as such, he has used the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for conducting raids across the US. These officials in masks walk around US city streets and arrest “suspecting” individuals, to be deported subsequently. In the event of any protest, they drag them out of their residences, workplaces or wherever they may happen to be. At no point in this procedure do they hesitate to use physical force.

Donald Trump has been rigid in his anti-immigrant stance by not only spewing a narrative about the same but also by inciting violence. Moreover, he has ensured that his requirements on the issue are fulfilled, and to that end, he is demanding the deployment of forces in various regions. The latest place to catch his attention is Portland, Oregon, which, in his words, is his “war-ravaged,” due to ongoing protests. The alleged situation has led Trump to order the deployment of 200 Oregon National Guard troops in the city. However, the same was postponed by a federal judge on October 5, 2025, in a big blow to Trump and his administration.

The verdict raised many eyebrows, especially those of Trump supporters who are unhappy. White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, an ardent Trump supporter, voiced his displeasure and rejected the judge’s decision on X (previously Twitter). Referring to it as an “absolute necessity”, Miller pushed for the deployment of troops in Portland. His views on the matter were significantly criticised, notably by California Governor Gavin Newsom, who openly opposes Donald Trump. Referring to Miller’s baseless claims, Newsom wrote through the Governor Newsom Press Office page:

“Sorry the Constitution hurt your feelings. You’ll be fine, cupcake.”

He did not stop there, as subsequent posts from his page asked for Miller to be fired from his job.
