The Sopranos actor Joe Pantoliano was rushed to hospital on Friday after being involved in a horrifying car accident while out for a walk.
The 68-year-old American actor was thrown through the air and into a fence while his distressed family quickly called an ambulance when the incident took place in Connecticut.
Joe was struck by a Porsche which skidded out of control across the street before smashing into another car, according to TMZ.
The actor’s wife, former model Nancy Sheppard, gave an eyewitness account but also explained she thinks her husband will make a full recovery following the accident.

TMZ reports that Nancy explained: “Joe was sent flying a couple feet backward into an old wooden fence."
They add: "He suffered a gash on his head, plus injuries to his left leg and a shoulder.”
The actor was then rushed to hospital where he was given a CT scan.

Joe later took Instagram to share photographs of himself smiling and giving a thumbs up – while also sporting a nasty looking cut on his head – after returning home from hospital.
The actor looked upbeat, despite the injury, as he posed in a red t-shirt and blue coat.
Sharing the snaps online, a statement reads: “Joey is home recovering. He has a severe head injury and some chest trauma.”

The statement continues: “He is going to be dark for a couple days while recovering.”
And adds: “Thank you for all the well wishes and positive vibes. Keep them coming! We'll reading them to him to help him get better.”
Fans flooded the comments section with words of encouragement, with one fan telling The Matrix star: “Praying for a speedy and full recovery.”
