Sopra Steria to open new northern HQ at Manchester's Exchange Quay

A European software giant has signed a lease at Manchester's Exchange Quay campus to consolidate its three former regional offices into a new northern HQ.

French consulting, digital services and software development business Sopra Steria has signed a ten year lease for 10,000 sq ft of offices on the top floor of Building 8 at the Salford Quays site - one of the North West's largest office developments.

Building 8 has recently undergone investment into its reception as part of a wider £3m programme being undertaken by Till Asset Management, acting on behalf of Exchange Quay.

The deal to Sopra Steria is the third letting that has completed in close succession within the building, following deals to RW Invest and Debt Support Services.

James Dickinson at Canning O'Neill, joint agent on Exchange Quay with Colliers, said: “We are delighted to welcome Sopra Steria to Exchange Quay and feel that this latest letting is testament to the environment the team has worked so hard to create, where employee wellbeing and occupier experience are of utmost importance.”

Exchange Quay, comprising 435,000 sq ft, is one of the largest office developments in the North West with over 4,000 workers.

The team continues to receive a high level of enquiries from companies who are seeking contemporary Grade A office accommodation together with a host of amenities designed to boost employee wellbeing.

Agents for Exchange Quay are Canning O’Neill and Colliers. Vail Williams acted on behalf of Sopra Steria.

Andy Hepworth, operations director at Sopra Steria said the move will enable greater collaboration in an "enhanced environment".

He said: “Sopra Steria is transforming the way we work, and Exchange Quay is offering just the right environment and location for our new North West hub.

"It will provide our colleagues and visitors with the means to work more effectively, in a bright new space that fosters the more hybrid and collaborative culture that we are introducing.”

Liam MacCarthy, director at Till Asset Management, said: “We have recently enjoyed multiple lettings within Building 8 and we feel this is reflective of the Exchange Quay’s overall attraction.

"Post-pandemic, we are seeing more companies placing greater emphasis on employee wellbeing, and this scheme has it all when it comes to location, flexibility of office space and the wide range of transport options available.

"We have welcomed many high-profile organisations to our tenant mix this year and look forward to Sopra Steria becoming operational later in the new year."
