'Sophisticated' burglar who stole from hotel and golf club jailed

A burglar who entered a hotel and stole guests' bags from their rooms has been jailed for almost five years for burglary and theft.

Mark Glover, of Maesbury, Kingswood, drove to a hotel in Frome on Saturday, May 14, and again the next month on Saturday, June 4, to commit the burglaries, and was caught on CCTV driving to and from the scene - despite being banned from driving at the time.

He was later caught on CCTV on Monday, June 6, this year committing a theft at a golf club in Farrington Gurney.

The court heard him plead guilty to two counts of non-dwelling burglary, a count of theft and three counts of driving while disqualified.

Along with a prison sentence of four years and eight months, he also received a five year driving ban.

Investigating officer PC Jim Card said: “There was a level of planning and sophistication to Glover’s criminal ways. He showed a disregard for the court and no remorse for the suffering of the victims who’s belongings were taken.

“I welcome this positive sentence and hope the victims of these burglaries and thefts are reassured that Glover is behind bars.”
