Sophie Wessex supports Prince George at Queen's funeral in touching moment picked up on camera

Sophie, Countess of Wessex was seen supporting Prince George at the Queen's funeral on Monday, in a touching moment picked up on camera.

Emotions ran high for the nation and of course the Royal Family as they said goodbye to not only the country's monarch, but a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Late on Sunday evening, the full order of service for the state funeral at Westminster Abbey was published online, revealing that Prince George, 9, and younger sister Princess Charlotte would be in attendance.

The two siblings, children of Prince William and Kate, were seen making their way into the Abbey shortly before 11am on Monday, as an estimated 2,000 strong congregation gathered to honour Queen Elizabeth II's remarkable reign and pay their respects to a much loved head of state. George and Charlotte walked beside their parents, the new Prince and Princess of Wales, as the Royal party followed the Queen's coffin into the historic building, as the sight of their young faces pulled on the heartstrings of many people watching at home.

The pair were then seeing after the service, getting into cars to make their way to the nearby Wellington Arch, for another memorial, before the Queen's coffin was then taken onto Windsor for another moving service at St George's Chapel, which they also attended.

And it was a gesture of support from the Countess of Wessex, aunt to his dad Prince William, to George that moved many people who saw it. Sophie, who was in tears during the Queen's funeral, was seen putting her arm around George's shoulder, as the third in line to the throne gathered with family.

Both George and Charlotte became a big talking point online in the aftermath of the funeral, with many Twitter users heaping praise on the brother and sister for handling the occasion so well.

Sophie's gesture of support to Prince George comes days after she was spotted 'reaching out' to Meghan Markle and briefly peaking to her as they both attended a service at Westminster Hall.
