Sophie Turner: I get the most positive reaction with blonde hair

Sophie Turner gets better reactions with her blonde hair

Sophie Turner's blonde hair "gets the most positive reaction".

The 30-year-old actress has dyed her hair a variety of colours, including auburn and brunette, over the years - but Sophie finds that people respond better to her natural hair colour.

Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper, Sophie explained: "I’ve been dyeing my hair since I was 13, when I had to go red for Game of Thrones, so I don’t really identify with any hair colour these days, although it’s interesting to see how the world reacts."

Asked which colour got the best response from the public, the actress replied: "Blonde gets the most positive reaction.

"Red gets less of a reaction, but when there is a reaction it’s pretty over the top. And with brunette you’re a bit camouflaged, which I’m really enjoying. I get recognised less, which is great."

Sophie played Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones between 2011 and 2019, and the actress has admitted to suffering an "identity crisis" when the show ended.

She said: "I didn’t know who was Sansa and who was Sophie. And I was too young to read the books, so I kind of just developed her over time.

"I had a big identity crisis when I let her go; I didn’t really know who I was or what I was doing. It was a strange, hard time."

Meanwhile, Sophie is set to play Lara Croft in Prime Video's new Tomb Raider series.

The actress fought off competition from the likes of Mackenzie Davis, Emma Mackey and Lucy Boynton to land the coveted role.

Sophie said in a statement: "I am thrilled beyond measure to be playing Lara Croft. She’s such an iconic character, who means so much to so many — and I am giving everything I’ve got."

Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander have both previously played the character in movies, and Sophie cannot wait to follow in their footsteps.

The actress is also thrilled to be working with Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the show's creator, writer and co-showrunner.

She said: "They’re massive shoes to fill, following in the steps of Angelina and Alicia with their powerhouse performances, but with Phoebe at the helm, we (and Lara) are all in very safe hands. I can’t wait for you all to see what we have cooking."
