Sophie Gradon's mum is spending £2.5k to unlock Love Islander's phone

Sophie Gradon's heartbroken mother has revealed she's paying out £2,500 in attempt to unlock her daughter's phone.

Mrs Gradon spoke of her plan on Twitter after previously claiming that police investigating Sophie's death were unable to access her iPhone for extraction.

The Love Island star was found dead at the age of 32 on 20 June 2018. An inquest into her death was due to start last week, but will now commence on April 18.

In February this year her mother tweeted to say: "As the heartbroken Mother of Sophie Gradon we are still waiting for an inquest date 8 months after her unexplained death. Why? Because the Police cannot open her iPhone for data extraction."

Mrs Gradon has now claimed that Sophie's two phones are with a London software company, who charge £2,500 per device to try possible password combinations.

Sophie, who found fame in the 2016 series of ITV2 dating show Love Island, took her own life at her parents' home in Northumberland last June.

An inquest into her death was originally scheduled for March 16, but was halted just days earlier after new information was brought to the attention of her parents.

Mirror Online was told that Sophie's parents had requested further time to consider a report they had only just received.

This week it was claimed that the Gradons had asked for Sophie's inquest to Sophie Gradon's parents refuse to attend her inquest as new details emerge.

Senior Coroner for Northumberland South, Eric Armstrong, said in a statement: "Please be advised that a new hearing date for the Inquest dealing with Sophie's death has been arranged.

"Mr and Mrs Gradon have requested that the Inquest take place in their absence, and the Inquest has now been fixed for Thursday 18th April at 10.30am at Howard House."
