Sophie Gradon's mum backs charity event in honour of her 'beautiful' daughter

Sophie Gradon 's memory will be honoured and celebrated at a charity night.

The Love Island star's mum Deborah is backing the event, which aims to honour Sophie in a beautiful way.

Deborah took to Twitter to give the charity fight night her full support.

She said: "So proud to be associated with this event in memory of my beautiful daughter Sophie Gradon. It’ll be so tough and so emotional but sharing it all with @ AshleyIenco & his gorgeous family will make the night so special"

The charity fight night is set to be held next month and will also feature special guests, including DJ Tom Zanetti.

Deborah went on to reveal that the proceeds made on the night will be going to Sophie's favourite charity, the Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter.

Deborah also shared a beautiful poem to remember her daughter alongside a stunning picture of the reality star, who tragically took her own life in June, last year.

The poem read: "You touched my Heart with Angels wings, so full of love The kind that makes Devils cry.

"Rememering so many happier days. Thinking of you and your sweetest smile I close my eyes for just a while and there you are Just a whisper away"

Heartbroken Deborah and her husband Colin denied a coroner's ruling that Sophie took her own life after consuming cocaine and alcohol.

She posted a poem about her daughter (Twitter)

Senior Coroner for Northumberland South, Eric Armstrong, today ruled that the  Love Island  star took her own life by hanging after taking cocaine and enough alcohol to put her two-and-a-half times over the legal driving limit.

He issued a warning, backed up by US research, that people are 16 times more likely to take their own lives after taking alcohol and cocaine together.

Sophie, 32, was found dead at her parents' home in Medburn, Ponteland, on June 20, 2018.

The ruling was given at Sophie's inquest, which her parents had chosen not to attend.

They've since said they're not happy with the findings.

They say their daughter had an undiagnosed brain condition that causes irrational thoughts.

They say the post mortem examination showed Sophie had been living with the condition, called Arteriovenous malformation (AVM), that causes an abnormal connection between arteries and veins that has been shown to affect a person’s thinking and reasoning abilities.

They told  The Sun  : "[The condition] would have had a severe and brutal impact on Sophie. We needed more time to research and talked to a leading psychiatrist and neuroscientist.

"They both unanimously agreed that Sophie’s cerebral and cognitive reasoning would have been influenced by the presence of the AVM in her brain.

"We believe Sophie started to become symptomatic in December 2017. We noted an acute change in her personality and behaviour."

The couple say their daughter became convinced she had ADHD and would complain that her "brain wasn't working right".

Sophie had been battling depression and the inquest heard that she'd been taking anti-depressant Sertraline since 2013.
