Sophie Ellis-Bextor rushed to hospital after horrific bike accident leaves her covered in blood

Sophie Ellis-Bextor was rushed to A&E last night after a horror cycling accident in London.

The singer, 41, was cycling along the Thames on Tuesday evening when she 'took a tumble' and injured herself.

The Murder On the Dancefloor hit maker was accompanied by her husband Richard Jones on their evening cycle through London when the accident happened.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday to update her followers on her accident, she wrote: "I ended up in a&e last night after I took a tumble from the tow path down to the side of the Thames on my bike during an evening cycle."

Sophie posted a photograph of her injuries in black and white and admitted the photo was "too gory" to share in colour.

She was covered in bruises and scratches across her face from the accident, and appeared to be resting in a hospital bed wearing a gown and mask.

"I've put the photo in black and white so it's not too gory. I am ok, just a bit bruised and sore," she continued.

"I want to thank the ambulance crew and the staff at west mid hospital (where I was born, as it happens) for gluing me back together."

Sophie, who was grateful to have been helped as she fell off her bike, thanked the runners by name in her Instagram post.

She added: "I also want to thank Lucas, Colin, Josh and Willow who were 4 runners who stopped and helped  @richardjonesface  and I when I hurt myself.

"You were so calm, thoughtful and reassuring. Thank you very much. I hope you see this message as I didn’t get your details. You’re all lovely people. Xxxx"
