Sophie Ellis-Bextor hangs up disco ball after sharing pic of son, 16, in lockdown

Sophie Ellis-Bextor has been cheering up her fans in lockdown by sharing videos of disco parties at her home - but she hung up her disco ball last night.

Each Friday during lockdown Sophie, 41, has dressed up to the nines for the parties with her kids.

The singer has performed some of her biggest hits such as The Murder On The Dancefloor as her kids dance around her.

But she called time after last night's stream where she was seen wearing a dazzling multi-coloured top, leather skirt and heels.

It comes after Sophie shared a rare picture of her 16-year-old son Sonny last month as he celebrated his birthday during lockdown.

Sophie announced that she would be hanging up her lockdown party disco ball in the caption, saying: "Last one. Sent, as we have with them all, from out kitchen to yours with love. Thank you for making our lockdown a get down. Social discoing with you week after week has been joyful. X"

Fans rushed to the comments section to thank her after she shared the video.

One said: "You have brought us pleasure in hard times. Thank you Sophie."

Another said: "Thank you so much... it’s been a blast!"

A third added: "Fridays will never be the same! We love you!"

In the video the singer can be seen parading up and down her kitchen with her kids and sat down hugging them.

The songstress previously posted a rare snap of her kids including Sonny enjoying his birthday bash.

Sonny, who bears a striking resemblance to his dad Richard Jones, is seen standing at a table with a cup of tea.

Sophie captioned the picture: "HAPPY SWEET QUARANTINE 16, SONNY! He’s the one on the left.

"If you don't own a sequined one-piece, you should get one,' the singer insists. 'They make you feel like a disco superhero!"

Sophie has changed the words of some of biggest hits to make them lockdown themed for her disco parties.

One of them is Take Me Home, which has been changed to 'stay at home'.

Speaking to MailOnline about why she decided to perform lockdown disco parties, she said: "I've always been quite private, never showing the kids' faces, that sort of thing.

"But suddenly it all felt totally irrelevant. I just had this desire to sort of connect with people, to have fun and do something that just distracted us all — and for me, as an entertainer, that meant getting up and putting on a show.

"If it was going to be a show in my own house, the kids had to be involved as we're all locked down together. That overwhelmed any other emotion, really."
