PANCHKULA: An air quality monitor will be put up at the Chandimandir toll plaza, while a newly set-up task force will conduct risk-mapping to find out highly polluted areas in the district.
The decisions were taken in meeting deputy commissioner (DC) Mahavir Kaushik held with SDMs and officials of the pollution control board and the health department at the mini-secretariat in Sector 1 to take steps to reduce pollution. The health department was made the nodal agency to take preventive steps. Kaushik said the air quality index (AQI) of Panchkula was better than other districts of the state, but steps were required to improve it further. The DC asked departments to prepare a plan to reduce pollution.
