PANAJI/MARGAO: Cooperation minister Subhash Shirodkar on Saturday said that a mechanism will soon be put in place to check the quality and pricing of milk that enters Goa.
Responding to a query at a press conference at the BJP's South Goa office, Shirodkar said, "Milk which comes to Goa from other states is not always pure and worth consuming. There is also abuse of rate. I am considering investigating the matter. We will have to bring in some restrictions on the rate abuse and keep a tab on the quality of milk which comes from outside, in the long run."
Earlier, Shirodkar hailed the eight years of Modi government at the centre stating that it has provided justice in all fields through various welfare schemes.
"Prime minister Modi is working towards making Bharat a developed country and a five trillion dollar economy," Shirodkar said.
Reeling out statistics, Shirodkar said that while 80 cr marginalized people have benefitted from free foodgrains provided by the central government, around Rs 5.5 cr homeless people got a roof above their heads through free housing scheme.
He also said that countless women were able to become financially independent through women self help groups under the central government schemes. 200 new medical colleges were started by the Modi government over the last eight years, he said.
He further said that construction of a network of national highways was progressing at a rate of 37 km per day.
