With no shortage of debate about the lack of women in media, not least on Radio 4's Today (and on the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year shorlist) our thoughts turn to the organisers of the Sony Radio Academy awards, the radio industry's annual "Oscars", if you will. It is led by a 14-strong group, including new Radio 1 boss Ben Cooper, TalkSport's Moz Dee, Absolute Radio's Clive Dickens, Radio 5 Live's Adrian Van Klaveren ... Do you see a pattern emerging here? Indeed, of the 14-strong organising committee, only one – Radio 4's Gwyneth Williams – is a woman. Sound Women, the lobbying and support group for women in radio, whose numbers include Woman's Hour presenter Jane Garvey, will surely have something to say about that. With so little representation on the Sonys committee, how many of the gongs will go to women?
