Sony moving hundreds of video games staff into former ECHO building

Video games giant Sony is moving hundreds of staff into the ECHO's former home.

Last year the Echo moved from its home of 40 years in Old Hall Street to a new base across the road in St Paul's Square, in the heart of Liverpool's commercial district.

Now Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe has signed a deal to lease three floors of office space inside the former ECHO building - which is now called Echo Place.

It will next year relocate 500 staff from Wavertree Technology Park to the old ECHO offices.

Echo Place is being redeveloped by the ECHO's parent company Reach and the Dubai-based Select Group.

Work is already under way to turn the tower above the old ECHO offices into a 207-bed INNSIDE hotel , including a Sky Bar on the 17th floor. That hotel, run by Spain's Meliá Hotels International Group, is set to open next year.

At street level, the building will be redeveloped to include five new retail units to serve the growing population of Liverpool's commercial district.

Paradigm Property Consultants represented the Reach and Select joint venture as development managers and letting agents on the deal with Liverpool’s Worthington Owen representing Sony Interactive.
