Sony Michel says his goal is to be ready for training camp

New England Patriots running back Sony Michel underwent a knee scope in May, which caused him to miss most of the team’s offseason program. This brought into question how extensive his knee injury was and whether the second-year back would be ready for training camp, which starts for New England on July 25.

While attending the Gatorade Player of the Year ceremony, NFL Network’s Omar Ruiz asked Michel if he would be ready for the start of camp.

“It’s a process, and it’s just something that I’m just kind of working towards,” Michel said. “That’s the goal: to be ready for training camp.”

Michel was also asked if the knee scope had to do with the injury that caused him to miss time at the beginning of the 2018 season. He said that speculation is untrue.

“It’s all part of the game. I wouldn’t relate it to last year,” said Michel. “Last year was last year. This is a whole new time. Anything can happen.”

Michel’s comments are promising. From the sounds of it, he will be a full go when training camp is underway and there should be no need to worry about his knee.
