It’s one of the most eagerly anticipated gaming consoles of the year, and now Sony has dropped a major hint about the PlayStation 5 launch date.
Rumours have previously suggested that the PS5 will be unveiled this month, and now Sony has hinted that these rumours could be true.
Speaking this week, Hiroki Totoki, Sony’s CFO, revealed that Sony is following the same release timeline as that of previous PlayStation consoles.
This indicates a February unveiling, and a November release date.
According to MotleyFool, he said: “It's very difficult to really discuss this timing-wise, but as of today, we will provide the guidance at a time period, which is comparable to the past.

"So we will not change the time schedule.”
The news comes amid rumours that Sony could reveal the PlayStation 5 at an exclusive event this month.
The rumours were shared on Reddit, and indicate that Sony could launch the console at an event on February 29.
Reddit user PennyOhms spotted that Sony Hall is booked for a ‘private event’ that evening.

They wrote: “Rumoured Venue for PS5 Sony Event closed for "Private Event" on Saturday Feb 29th. Could this be it?”
While previous rumours suggested an earlier launch date of February 5, fans have noticed that Sony does not have any events at Sony Hall that night.
PennyOhms added: “Much later than the Rumoured Feb 5th, but nothing is showing on that day.”
