Former commerce minister Sontirat Sontijirawong owned assets worth 144.4 million baht, or 31.17 million baht more than he declared to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) when he first assumed the role, the graftbusting agency revealed on Thursday.
The NACC's Bureau of Political Sector Asset Inspection disclosed the assets and liabilities declared by four former cabinet ministers after they vacated their ministerial posts, as required by NACC law.
The four currently serve as top executives of the Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP).
Apart from Mr Sontirat, who serves as the party's secretary-general, the other three are PPRP leader and former industry minister Uttama Savanayana, PPRP deputy leader and former science and technology minister Suvit Maesincee, and PPRP spokesman and former PM's Office Minister PPRP Kobsak Pootrakool.
Mr Sontirat's assets included 300,000 baht in cash, 1.029 million baht in savings, 80.7 million baht worth of investments, and 2 million baht worth of rights and concessions. He also owns amulets estimated to be worth more than 30 million baht.
According to his declaration, other valuable possessions include 34 pieces of jewellery valued in excess of 30 million baht.
The NACC also revealed that Mr Kobsak's assets are worth more than 25.6 million baht. They include 5.2 million baht held in bank accounts and 4.59 million baht of investments. However, his debts surpass 5.6 million baht.
Mr Suvit was found to have more assets than debts. He declared 86.77 million baht of assets.
Mr Uttama has 223.7 million baht of assets between him and his wife. Her debts amounted to 2.8 million baht.
