Sonny Gray feeling good after A's throwing session

ARLINGTON, Texas _ Sonny Gray moved another step closer to a return to the Oakland starting rotation with a 35-pitch bullpen session Friday afternoon in Glove Life Park.

Gray, recovering from a right lat injury that had him on the disabled list to start the season, said he was able to throw all of his pitches during the session, the last 10 pitches of which saw A's infielder/outfielder Mark Canha stand in the batter's box.

"It was a good productive day," Gray said. "This is two of them in the last four days, and I've felt good before and after."

Gray, manager Bob Melvin and pitching coach Curt Young and the medical staff will talk Friday or Saturday about the next step, which could be another session like Friday's or throwing to hitters.
