Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Adds Minecraft Pack DLC, Launching October 8 on All Platforms

When discussing our first impressions of Sonic Racing Crossworlds, we talked about how the massive character roster could become a huge pull for a wider audience. The newly teased Minecraft Pack DLC confirms that statement. This pack will introduce a couple of recognizable characters from the Minecraft universe, such as Steve, Alex, and Creeper. The DLC pack arrives on October 8th.

Minecraft Meets Sonic Racing: Crossworlds

If you already own the Sonic Racing: Crossworlds Season Pass or the Digital Deluxe Edition, you’ll get access to this DLC as part of the pass on release day. Apart from the three new characters, Steve, Alex, and Creeper, the pack will also give you a new map called Minecraft World and the new Minecart vehicle. Of course, you can also expect some remixed Minecraft music, new emotes, and additional sound effects to complement everything else.

Sega is also hosting a Minecraft Festival this coming weekend, October 9 to 11. The good news is that you don’t need the DLC to join the festival. Exact details of this event aren’t unveiled yet, but it will likely be similar to the Hatsune Miku event that we just got a couple of days ago. Festivals in Sonic Racing Crossworlds consist of exclusive modes and rewards you can unlock by earning festival points. Some of the more notable rewards from the Hatsune Miku event were new gadgets, decals, and player titles.

When the festival starts this coming weekend, Sega states that the World Match mode will not be available. This is the game’s primary ranked online mode, where players earn “rank points” according to their finishing positions in races. You also earn some interesting rewards as your rank increases. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to do that this coming weekend. This temporary removal ensures smooth festival performance and balanced matchmaking as servers handle the influx of new event participants worldwide.
