Sonic booms are set to ring out above us once more as supersonic flights will be with us by the end of the decade, well, that’s according to United Airlines.
The airline says the service will use sustainable aviation fuel and plans to slash current flight times.
For example, from Newark to London would be just three-and-a-half hours. That’s nearly half the current passenger flight time, but slower than the record set by a BA Concorde in 1996.
United says it has conditionally agreed to buy planes capable of flying at speeds of Mach 1.7, and apparently twice as fast as modern airliners.

They say thinning sea ice in the coastal Arctic seas also has implications for human activity in the region – as the increased shipping access with less ice raises the risk of devastating fuel spillages.
