Sonia's reaction to Eastenders being suspended due to coronavirus causes social media storm

EastEnders actress Natalie Cassidy's reaction to filming on the show being suspended due to coronavirus has caused a social media storm.

The news comes after PM Boris Johnson advised the country to avoid 'non essential social contact' and mass gatherings.

In a statement about EastEnders, the corporation said: “In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, it has been decided that filming on EastEnders will be postponed until further notice. The decision was made after the latest Government update.
“We will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the World Health Organisation and Public Health England.

"We have also taken the decision to reduce the amount of episodes we broadcast each week to two, so that we can ensure the audience can continue to enjoy EastEnders in their homes for as long as possible.”

Fellow soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale have announced schedule changes prompted by the coronvirus outbreak.

The BBC have also halted filming on Casualty, Doctors, Holby City, Pobol y Cwm and River City, and reacting to the news about EastEnders, Natalie, who has played Sonia in the soap for well over two decades now, tweeted something in reference to her character's love for a certain instrument in her younger days.

She posted: "I shall get my trumpet out at some point and entertain myself," and the reaction has been huge. One reacted:  "Legend! Bring it on," and another reacted: "What doesn't kill you makes you sonia."

Others actually want Natalie to follow through on her promise. One fan told her: "Livestream it pls or start an only fans for Sonia related content like cleaning tips and your favourite flat hair looks PLS I WILL SUBSCRIBE," and another wrote: "PLEASE. i want daily videos."
