Songs Taylor Swift has penned about past lovers as she 'falls in love' with Matt Healy

Taylor Swift is reportedly in a new relationship just weeks after her shock split from British actor Joe Alwyn, with the songstress supposedly getting close to Matt Healy.

Frontman of The 1975, Matty, and American starlet Taylor are both said to be "madly in love", with them set to make a public appearance together this weekend when she performs in Nashville, Tennessee.

Last month, reports revealed that Taylor and acting sensation Joe had called time on their almost seven-year-long relationship after he "struggled with Taylor's level of fame and the attention from the public".

But Joe isn't the only famous lover that Taylor has had, nor the only lover that Taylor has penned songs about.

As she continues her sold-out The Eras Tour this weekend in Nashville, and reportedly cosies up to Brit rocker Matty, Mirror Online takes a look as some of her most prolific songs that were penned with certain people in mind.

Scroll on to see who inspired what from the star's discography....

Joe Alwyn

Firstly, let's have a look at the tracks Taylor has penned with her ex Joe in mind. When they were loved up of course.

There are so many tracks rumoured and thought to be about Joe, with much of her two albums Reputation and Lover referencing their romance.

King Of My Heart, Delicate, Dress and Gorgeous are all songs from 2017 album Reputation that thought to be about Joe, with these songs seemingly and supposedly painting a picture of how the pair fell in love.

While The Archer, Lover, Cornelia Street, Paper Rings, London Boy and All Of The Girls You Loved Before are all tracks from 2019 album Lover, which appear to depict how the couple's romance blossomed and grew, with marriage even referenced several times.

All Of The Girls You Loved Before has a particularly romantic part which alludes to marriage, with the singer crooning: "Your mother brought you up loyal and kind / Teenage love taught you there's good in goodbye / Every woman that you knew brought you here / I wanna teach you how forever feels like."

Not only did Taylor write songs about Joe, but she wrote songs with him too, under the pseudonym William Bowery.

While penning Folklore and Evermore during the global pandemic, Joe got in on the action and penned Betty, Champagne Problems, Coney Island, Evermore and Exile with the singer.

More recently, Joe co-wrote Sweet Nothing with Taylor for her Midnights album, with the song being soft, gentle and referencing heartfelt moments between two lovers.

Harry Styles

Taylor's song Style from her 2014 album 1989 is widely thought to have been penned about the One Direction hunk.

With lyrics like "we never go out of style" and "you've got that long hair slick back" - it's got to be, hasn't it?

The couple stepped out for the first in December 2012 before breaking things off in early 2013 - with 1989 coming out in 2014.

Style is just one of the tracks from 1989 thought to be about Harry, with Out Of The Woods and I Wish You Would also rumoured to be about the singer.

But 1989 isn't the only album to contain songs thought to be about the tattooed hunk.

Question...? is one track from her recently released Midnights album rumoured to be about Harry.

The upbeat song samples aforementioned Out of the Woods at the start, with the chorus asking a question about where the relationship is going - just like the lyrics in the 1989 track.

Fans have said that the song also alludes to the New Year’s Eve kiss Taylor and Harry had during Dick Clark’s Rocking Eve in 2013, which might be referenced in the lyrics: "Did you ever have someone kiss you in a crowded room? / And every single one of your friends was making fun of you (You) / But fifteen seconds later they were clapping, too?"

Taylor Lautner

Taylor Lautner and the singer of the same first name dated way back when in 2009 after they met on the set of romantic comedy Valentine's Day.

Breaking up just a few months later, the pair split in December 2009, which is why Taylor presumably penned Back To December on her Speak Now album.

Released in 2010, the track Back To December has lyrics like: "I miss your tan skin, your sweet smile, so good to me, so right".

Taylor allegedly wrote this heartbreak song as an apology to the Twilight actor and at the time spoke on USA Today where she said: "It’s almost word-for-word.

"It is a song and a conversation that needed to happen because I don’t want to hurt people.

"If you unintentionally do so, you’ve got to make that better."

Jake Gyllenhaal

Taylor and Broke Back Mountain actor Jake first made headlines in 2010, when they were spotted looking cosy in New York .

With their romance heating up over the autumn, the pair were then photographed walking arm-in-arm during the Thanksgiving break together.

But come December, the pair had split, with them spending their birthdays and Christmases apart.

Taylor's Red album came out in the autumn of 2012, before being re-released in 2021, with the album seemingly referencing Jake quite a lot.

But All Too Well is the most prolific song Taylor has written about the actor, with her even releasing the track in 2021 as an extended version on her re-released album.

Although Taylor has never confirmed All Too Well to be about Jake, the references about the infamous scarf and several other lyrics means fans have always been convinced that the song is about him.

Jake was asked about All Too Well when it was re-released, with him saying: "It has nothing to do with me.

"It’s about her relationship with her fans. It is her expression. Artists tap into personal experiences for inspiration, and I don’t begrudge anyone that."

John Mayer

Taylor dated John back in 2009 when she was just 19 years of age and he was 32.

Dear John from Taylor's aforementioned Speak Now album has long been rumoured to be about the fellow musician, with Taylor crooning: "Dear John, I see it all, now it was wrong / Don't you think nineteen is too young / To be played by your dark twisted games, when I loved you so? / I should've known."

John later spoke to Rolling Stone magazine when said it was a "lousy thing" for her to do [writing the song], explaining how he felt "humiliated".

But Taylor didn't stop there because she seemingly penned another song about John - Would've, Could've, Should've - which was featured as the 19th track on Midnights 3 A.M. Edition.

In the song that features on her latest album Taylor sings: “At nineteen, and the god's honest truth is that the pain was heaven / And now that I'm grown, I'm scared of ghosts / Memories feel like weapons / And now that I know / I wish you'd left me wondering / God rest my soul / I miss who I used to be.”

Some people even think Taylor listed the track as 19th on purpose to allude to the age she was when she dated John.
