Songkran fun in Buri Ram

Songkran can be more fun after sundown.

Over recent years, Buri Ram has been known as the host of the biggest Songkran celebration in the lower Isan region. This year, the northeastern province promises to live up to its name with the "Chang Songkran Buriram Phuen Gu 2019", which will take place at Chang Arena on April 13-14, from 4pm to midnight.

Apart from water-splashing fun, the grand event will feature a variety of entertainment including live concerts by famous bands and individual artists such as Carabao, 25 Hours, T-Bone, Kong Huyrai, Num Kala and Pekky Srithanya.

That's not all. There will also be a spectacular carnival (April 13, from 6pm on), a water tunnel, a black light party, a sand sculpture contest and much more.

Hot time in Hat Yai

Another event where the joy of the water festival doesn't die down after dusk will be hosted in the South in the largest city in Songkhla province.

The "Hat Yai Midnight Songkran 2019" is taking place on Niphat Uthit 3, Saneha Nuson and Thammanun Withi roads in downtown Hat Yai, on April 12-13, from midday to 11pm. Revellers can also enjoy a carnival, a beauty contest, games, cultural performances and live music by Thaitanuim, Musketeers and many more.

Party in Phrae

Meanwhile, in the North, Phrae province invites visitors to its Songkran celebration where everybody is encouraged to show up in the blue-dyed mo hom clothes or other traditional Thai costumes. From April 13-17, religious rites will be held at Wat Phra Bat Ming Muang and several other Buddhist temples in Phrae city. Cultural and fun activities will be organised at famous markets such as Kad Sam Wai and Kad Kong Kao. The first, the main venue, will feature various entertainment every day during the period, while the latter will be open on April 13 and 14, to coincide with the weekend market.
