Song Min-kyu 'wanted' for Celtic transfer as South Korean golden boy subject of three-way signing battle

Celtic are reportedly battling it out with two clubs in the race to land South Korea international Song Min-kyu.

Ange Postecoglou has made it clear he wants reinforcements to his squad in January and the winger could fit the bill.

They've already reportedly sounded out Postecoglou's former player, Daizen Maeda, at Yokohama F.Marinos who is the top scorer in the J-League.

And reports in South Korea have indicated Celtic are in a three-way fight with Udinese and Fenerbahce to land the £1.5 million-rated 22-year-old, who plays for champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

Song only moved to Jeonbuk in the summer, but has already attracted plenty of interest already from clubs in Europe after an excellent campaign.

He made his international debut in July for South Korea in a World Cup qualifier against Sri Lanka and has now won five caps since then.

Celtic have delved into the South Korean market before when they signed Ki Sung-yueng from FC Seoul in 2010. The midfielder is now back at the club after stints at Swansea City, Newcastle United and Sunderland.

And they also signed 76-times capped South Korean full back Cha Du-ri who spent two seasons at Parkhead before moving to Fortuna Dusseldorf.
