Sonam Kapoor on Thursday inaugurated her new social media handle - Sonam K Ahuja - with her first ever picture with husband Anand Ahuja as a married couple. She captioned the photograph with the same hashtag members of her family have been using for her wedding, #EverydayPhenomenal.
In the picture, taken at the Leela in Mumbai, the actor can be seen kissing Anand on the cheek, wearing her bridal lehenga, while Anand is dressed in his groom’s outfit.
The couple was married in a private ceremony on Tuesday, which was followed by a grand reception bash that saw some of the biggest Bollywood stars in attendance. Videos from the reception were later shared online. Everyone from family members such as Sonam’s father Anil Kapoor to cousin Arjun Kapoor to fellow Bollywood stars such as Ranveer Singh, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Varun Dhawan, let their hair down.
Sonam and Anand announced their wedding after weeks of speculation in a statement released in early May. “The Kapoor and Ahuja families take great joy and pride, in announcing the marriage of Sonam and Anand. The wedding will take place on the May 8 in Mumbai. Since it is an intimate affair, we request you to respect the family’s need for privacy. Thank you for all your blessings and love as we celebrate this special moment in our lives,” they’d said.
Wishes poured in for the newlyweds on social media, to which Sonam replied diligently. She will now head for the Cannes Film Festival, where she will walk the ramp as a guest of cosmetics brand, L’Oreal. Her film, Veere Di Wedding, is slated for release on June 1.
