Son threw paving slab through Gateshead mum's window and breached restraining order for 11th time

A son threw a paving slab through his long-suffering mum's window and breached his restraining order for the 11th time.

Peter Jobling, who has a mental health condition which makes him think he's rich and famous at times, is banned from going to his mum's home in Gateshead due to his previous misbehaviour.

However, he had repeatedly ignored the court order and already had nine previous convictions for breaching it, as well as 14 for criminal damage.

Newcastle Crown Court heard he turned up yet again at the home where his mum and stepfather live, demanding to see his "f****** mother" and demanding cash.

Alec Burns, prosecuting, said his stepdad told him to go away.

Mr Burns said: "Then they both heard a great smashing sound.

"He had thrown a paving slab through the front window."

The next day, Jobling returned and was shouting for his mother and money again.

But this time he went across the road to a neighbour's house.

Mr Burns said: "The lady heard him demanding money and he then threw through her window another slab."

The court heard the windows cost around £300 each to repair.

Jobling had been given a community order in September last year for similar offending of breaching the restraining order and causing damage.

Mr Burns said: "He has done it nine times before these two. This is the eleventh."

He pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching a restraining order and two of criminal damage and was jailed for 14 months.

Tony Cornberg, defending, said he'd had conferences with Jobling in which he was lucid but also ones in which he "believes he is famous and wealthy" and "feels he is famous and in costume and not his own skin".

He added: "To him at the time, he believes these are facts.

"That's how unwell he is."
