People have reacted to the "tragic" news after an 88-year-old man's body was recovered from a canal.
Ronald Roose went missing from his home in East Didsbury at around 7.30pm on Sunday, November 27. Police were called out to reports of a body in the Manchester Ship Canal near to Warburton Toll Bridge in Warrington at around 1.30pm on Saturday, January 7.
ECHO readers have sent their messages of support to the family after police formally identified the man as Mr Roose yesterday.

Teresa Walker said: "God bless him and please send my love and strength to all his family". Steven Shanley said: "Very sad to hear, may he RIP. Condolences to all his family and friends.
Gwladys Mercer: "So very sad rest peacefully Ronald condolences to his family and friends". Pat Gilfillan: "Ah so sad. Rest peacefully."
Officers expressed their condolences to Mr Roose's family. Mr Roose's family have thanked the Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire, and Rescue Service, and the underwater search team for their efforts. They have also thanked members of the public who helped with the search for Mr Roose or shared the appeal.
One woman said: "I read this before Christmas I was hoping he would be found safely so sad to hear the sad news". Another commented: "Ron's son and his family and friends must have been extremely worried and stressed over Ron's disappearance. I'm glad for you that you can finally get to lay him to rest."
Ron's son has set up a fundraiser for a bench in their memory. He hopes to raise £2,500 for a bench that can be placed in Fletcher Moss park in Didsbury or by the River Mersey.
