Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Akash Tomar said “there are 13 cases lodged against Javed under serious sections.” He said, “Javed was arrested on a tip-off from Mirzapur region, where he is involved in several criminal activities.” “Early this month, we seized their benaami properties worth over Rs 100 crore, which pertains to 124 properties bought in different names. These properties were identified by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe Iqbal’s illegal wealth,” Tomar said.

This is the fourth arrest in the case linked with Haji Iqbal and his sons Javed, Wajid and Afzal, who are involved in multiple fraud cases.

On May 13, UP police arrested his other son Mohd Alishan from Lajpat Nagar in Delhi. Six persons including Iqbal, his three sons - Javed, Wajid and Afzal - their associate Rao Laik and servant Naseem Gaffar were booked under Gangster Act out of which Laik, Gaffar, Alishan and now Javed have been arrested.
