Boxing champion Nigel Benn’s pro boxer son Harley has been blasted after appearing to film himself speeding at 80 mph with just one hand on the wheel.
Harley Benn, 24, posted a video of himself whizzing down a dual carriageway in a Mercedes at breakneck speed on social media.
The shocking video shows the bruiser filming the road ahead of him while hitting the accelerator and smashing the 70mph speed limit at about 7am.
Despite only appearing to have one hand on the wheel, the boxer’s speedometer surges from 73mph to 80mph before the video cuts off.
Harley, who boasts a record of nine bouts, eight victories and one defeat, captioned the video: “See me driving but they don’t know about the grind that I put in.”
He posted the clip on an Instagram story his more than 10,000 followers could view on Wednesday.
Now, road safety campaigners have slammed Harley, who was tipped to appear on this year’s Love Island series, for putting others at risk.
RAC spokesman Rod Dennis said: “Speeding and using a handheld mobile phone while driving is an incredibly dangerous combination, and it beggars belief why anyone would want to post something publicly that shows them doing both.
“In 2019, there were more than 200 fatal collisions as a result of drivers speeding, and a further 17 where a driver using a phone was a factor.
“We’d urge all drivers to do everything they can to ensure the safety of themselves and everyone else using the roads and always obey road traffic laws.”
It’s illegal to hold a phone while driving and The UK Highway Code states: “Drive with both hands on the wheel where possible.
“This will help you to remain in full control of the vehicle at all times.”
Harley and his representatives were approached for comment.
Former Middleweight World Champion Benn senior conceived Harley during an affair with his mum Lisa Andrew, while also going through IVF with his second wife Carolyne.
Carolyne reportedly didn’t know about the affair when she gave birth to twins Conor and India, shortly after Harley was born.
Harley suffered a shock defeat in May 2019 when he was beaten 0-16 by journeyman boxer Lee Halett, on Billy Joe Saunders’ undercard.
News reports speculated that Harley would enter the Majorca villa for hit ITV show Love Island this year, but this now appears unlikely to happen.
