A son has launched an online appeal to find a stunning work of art done by his mum.
The painting - Watching the Waves - was completed in 2005 and then exhibited before being sold.
Now Alan Kidd has called on online friends to help find the work so it can be bought back in time for his mum's 90th birthday.
He wrote of Facebook:"This is a colossally long shot. My mum did this painting in 2005.
"She was a member of Holyrood Art Club in Edinburgh at the time; it went into one of their exhibitions and was sold, and she’s always regretted letting it go as she sees it as the best thing she ever did.
"Mum’s told me on the eve of her 90th birthday that she’d love to track it down and see if she can buy it back.
"The exhibition was at St George’s Church in Shandwick Place, in March 2005.
"The painting was exhibit 73, called Watching the Waves. If any of you kind Embra folk know anyone at all who might have an idea where it resides these days, you’d make my mum (and, by extension, me) very very happy."
The spectacular work shows huge breakers hitting rocks in a bay against a brooding sky.
It may still be in the Edinburgh area or it could even have left Scotland by now.
It went down a storm with Facebook friends.
