Son Heung-min shares Golden Boot with Mo Salah as Tottenham secure Champions League football

Son Heung-min has won the Premier League Golden Boot award for the first time. He will share the award with Liverpool's Mohamed Salah.

The South Korean scored twice against Norwich on the final day to take his tally to 23 goals for the season but Salah's late goal in the Reds' 3-1 win over Wolves means that the two share the award for the league's top scorer.

Unlike other competitions, which use assists to decide who would finish with the crown, the Premier League's rules state that in the event of a tie, the Golden Boot will be shared.

This has happened twice before in the competition's history. The first time this happened was in the 2010/11 Premier League season where Manchester United's Dimitar Berbatov and Manchester City's Carlos Tevez finished top of the scoring charts with 20 goals each.

Tottenham thumped the Canaries 5-0 and qualified for next season's Champions League by doing so. The Lilywhites had been locked in a fierce top-four battle with local rivals Arsenal, who were four points clear just over a week ago.

However, Mikel Arteta's men suffered back-to-back defeats, losing 3-0 in the North London Derby before delivering a poor display during Monday night's 2-0 defeat against Newcastle United. That result meant Spurs just needed to draw against already-relegated Norwich today, something they had no trouble doing.

Although the Gunners managed to beat Everton 5-1 on the final day, Tottenham's result means that they will be playing Europa League football next season.
